M & B in ’93
£10.00
Bill Scott was educated at Carlisle Grammar School and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
He went on to teach at Robert Ferguson School, Carlisle; The Friends’ School, Hobart, Tasmania; Newman School, Carlisle and Nelson Thomlinson School, Wigton.
He retired in 1987 and enjoyed many years of fell walking.
Bill Thomlinson has to take early retirement from Head of Nelson Thomlinson Middle School, Wigton because of failing eyesight. For years he had followed his wife’s Mary’s fluorescent socks up and down the fells. Now, after an operation at Addenbrook’s Hospital, Cambridge, Mr John Scott, an ophthalmic surgeon, gave him back his sight in his one and only good eye. Thus 1993 was not only a celebration of their 60th birthdays, but a new look at all the fells which Bill hasn’t seen for decades. This is the diary he kept for all the 214 Wainwright walks – as he says it was a ‘labour of love’.
