Wythburn Church and the Valley of Thirlmere
£3.95
Wythburn church stands at the southern end of Thirlmere in the Lake District. The parish was depopulated at the end of the 19th Cent in order to make way for the reservoir created by Manchester Corporation to supply the needs of the city. There are now only about 5 parishioners, but the church is still used and is placed in a superb situation at the foot of Helvellyn.
This booklet which is generously illustrated in both colour and b&w has information about the church, its history, and the changes which have placed it in this rather isolated position without any dwellings nearby.
