£20.00
Christine Boyce, artist & craftswoman, 1928-2019, established a reputation for the quality of her stained glass design and production during the 1980s , but she was also active as a painter throughout her life, exhibiting on occasion at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. A committed naturalist, she was often to be seen cycling through the Borders landscape around her home at Banks, near Lanercost. In both her stained glass and her paintings she introduced details from nature as well as exploring the possibilities of abstraction. She was an active member of the Society of Master Glass Painters and lectured widely. Her work is to be seen chiefly throughout Cumbria with other examples in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. Her masterpiece is the Norman Nicholson Memorial window in St. George’s Church, Millom.
