This book charts the history of a school first founded in 1871 by the Rev Luke Curry, for the education of the children of Carlisle.

It is the story of generations of Carlisle residents as told through the fortunes of one school, with all the rich and fascinating history accumulated over the course of its 150 years.

The school was and remains the fruit of a diverse collection of individual lives and characters, some of whom we discover in this book, and the vital role they played in delivering the mission of its founders: the good and timely education of the children of the city, in service of the poor, as part of the mission of the church.’
