A New History of Penrith Book II

Penrith under the Tudors is the second volume in a new and comprehensive history of Penrith from the earliest times to the present.

The Tudor period, from 1485 to 1603, formed one of the most significant and exciting phases in the history of this town. Under the Tudor dynasty, Penrith, along with the rest of Cumberland, became more closely integrated into a centralised national political, economic, religious and cultural system centred on London and coordinated by the crown.
