Ticket to Dent
A classic Midland Railway Station, the highest in England, high up in the Pennines, in need of some love and attention and on one of Britain’s most stunning cross country routes, was just the challenge needed to inspire Robin Hughes to action.
The book traces the story of his determination, against all the odds, weather, location, bureaucracy, to restore this gem to its former glory and more. He created a high class award winning holiday home, thoughtfully and comfortably furnished, ideally suited to the outdoor lover and/or the railway enthusiast. Once that was completed, he went further. The adjacent derelict Snow Huts, invited even more of a call to action. The remoteness, lack of mains services and the daily changes of weather, again made this no easy task. They now stand as yet another testament to vision and determination, and offer luxurious bolt-holes, ideal for “charging the batteries” in these modern “connected” times.
