Tea and Cake with… Ellie Wood

Sunday 18th May, 4pm

Cakes & Ale Cafe, Carlisle

Lake District author Ellie Wood visits Bookends to discuss her latest book The Hotel at the Heart of the Lakes, a charming novel set on a peaceful island on Derwentwater. Ellie will be discussing her book over tea and cake in Cakes & Ale cafe and will be happy to answer questions and sign books.

Welcome to the Lake Island Hotel, on a small island in the centre of beautiful Derwentwater, offering an escape from it all like no other destination. With a 360-degree view of the hills, and the water lapping at your feet on the private shore, you can’t help but be enchanted. Anna bought the hotel with her husband five years ago, and has lovingly transformed it from a near-ruin to a must-visit luxury destination. The guests who come here to unwind see only the stunning views and the five-star service – but behind the scenes are the team who work hard to make relaxing seem easy. But on an island this small, it’s inevitable that tempers will fray, hearts will break, romances will bloom – and above all, if you think you’ve got a secret, it won’t stay that way for long…

Ellie Wood was born and raised in the Lake District, where she still lives. Passionate about the benefits of getting out into the wild, she’s swum and walked the landscape that inspires her writing since she was small. Her previous novels include The Wildwater Women and The Restaurant at the Heart of the Lake.

Tickets: £16 (includes hot drink, slice of cake and a copy of the book). Tickets available here
