Millom And District
Prehistoric Past
£10.00
Millom and District is cram packed full of Prehistoric evidence, from the ancient forest off Haverigg Point surveyed by Duddon Valley History Group, to Mesolithic footprints on the Duddon foreshore, to flints, stone axes and hammers, to (Neolithic?) crop marks from Millom to Bootle, to amazing monuments like Swinside Stone Circle, Giant’s Grave and Lacra Bank with its burial cairns and stone circles, to the burial urn found near Beck Farm and the ancient bones found at Haverigg, to the iron age stone head found near St George’s church and the iron turret ring found in a field near the Castle.
Building on this, with much, much, more research, our chair, Jan Bridget, produced the book Millom and District: Prehistoric Past.
