The Carlisle Ship Canal 1821-1853

David Ramshaw

£13.00

The Carlisle Ship Canal had a very short life compared to most canals. Construction work began in 1819 and the canal was closed in 1853. As a result there is probably less known about it than many other canals which still exist today.

This book was first published in 1997 in monochrome and A5 Landscape format. This fully revised edition includes new material and, as it is in A4 format with full colour illustrations, aims to provide the reader with a more visual appreciation of the importance of the canal to the industrial development of Carlisle in the early 19th century.
