Join Bookends for an evening with bestselling crime writers Mari Hannah and M W Craven in conversation at Cakes & Ale cafe, Carlisle, before a Q&A session and book signing.
M W Craven will be discussing the paperback release of ‘Nobody’s Hero’, the second instalment in the Ben Koenig series and Mari Hannah will be focusing on her latest novel ‘My Sister’s Killer’, the fifth book in the Stone and Oliver series,
Mari Hannah is the multi-award winning, bestselling author and screenwriter. She is the creator of the Stone & Oliver crime series, the Ryan & O’Neil series and the DCI Kate Daniels series. A former probation officer, Mari turned to screenwriting when her career was cut short following an assault on duty. Mari lives in a small Northumberland village with her partner, an ex-murder detective.
What brings people together often throws them apart, especially when it involves family. Newly promoted Inspector Frankie Oliver has been consumed by rooting out her sister’s killer and bringing them to justice. But when new evidence comes to light, and her former boss DCI David Stone embarks on an investigation into the tragic unsolved murder without her knowledge, the ties that bind them begin to fray. After decades without answers, who knows where the trail might lead? And will knowing the answers be the very thing that breaks Frankie irreparably?
‘Involving, sophisticated, intelligent and suspenseful – everything a great crime thriller should be’ Lee Child
‘I loved it – both compelling and incredibly moving.’ Elly Griffith
‘Mari Hannah is in the uppermost echelon of British crime writer’ M.W. Craven
M W Craven hails from Carlisle and is an internationally bestselling crime writer. His novels have been translated into over 25 languages and he has won multiple awards, including the prestigious Crime Writer’s Association Gold Dagger Award 2019. His Ben Koenig series is currently in production with Netflix.
The man who can’t feel fear is back, in a race against time to find the woman who knows a secret that could take down the world as we know it. When a shocking murder and abduction on the streets of London leads investigators to him, Ben Koenig has no idea at first why the highest echelons of the CIA would need his help.
But then he realises he knows the woman who carried out the killings. Ten years earlier, without being told why, he was tasked with helping her disappear. Far from being a deranged killer, she is the gatekeeper of a secret that could take down the West, so for years she has been in hiding.
Until now. And if she has resurfaced, the danger may be closer and more terrifying than anyone can imagine. So Ben Koenig has to find her before it’s too late. But Ben suffers from a syndrome which means he can’t feel fear. He doesn’t always know when he should walk away, or when he’s leading others into danger . . .
‘Craven has unleashed Ben Koenig into the thriller world. Long may he raise hell in the pages.’ David Baldacci
