For several years Kathleen Ashbridge led group walks through Caldbeck using, as a reference point, this account of a walk through the village on the first day of the twentieth century.
Richard Greenup, author, local man and keen historian, wrote it all down in a school exercise book using longhand, before transcribing it into the book we have here.
In addition to old photographs a few recent ones of the village have been added. They look, however, much as they would have done in the early 20th century - and even long before.
