The Ennerdale Show started in 1895, as a flower and vegetable show in aid of the village school.
From 1900 sheep were introduced, then sports, and other livestock, until it became known as 'T'laal Royal'. This DVD looks at the history and current activities of this traditional Lakeland show. Typical in its links with the valley, village and farming communities, Ennerdale Show has also always had a special relationship with the people of industrial West Cumbria. That the show has taken 112 years to reach its centenary is largely due to Mr. Hitler and the Kaiser before him; but also to problems such as Foot & Mouth disease, and just once.....the weather!
